One warm spring day, I met a group of passionate therapists who invited me to co-found a counseling center devoted to helping people explore career paths and cultivate meaningful relationships.

| Timeline: 4 years | My Role: Product Designer | Team: Therapists, Marketing Team |

First.

We recognized that careers shape more than income—they influence lifestyle, identity, and mental well-being. Guided by this belief, we conducted market research, developed an MVP, interviewed users, and refined our designs through iteration. The result was Life Design Cards, a tabletop game launched across Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other parts of Asia. To date, it has empowered more than 80,000 people to navigate career challenges, unlock opportunities, and design futures they truly aspire to.

Ⅰ Life Design Cards Ⅰ

Life Design Cards is a tabletop game, facilitated by psychotherapists, that helps individuals explore career paths more engagingly and interactively. By assessing personal traits, skills, and job categories, the game replaces traditional questionnaires with a playful, human-centered approach to making informed career choices.

Challenges

While collaborating with psychotherapists, I learned that traditional career questionnaires were overwhelming, often taking more than 60 minutes to complete, and rarely offered meaningful insights. For individuals still uncertain about themselves, these tools felt more like a burden than a guide.

Solutions

To address this, we designed a 20–30 minute game that made the process more engaging and approachable. By framing exploration as play, individuals expressed their thoughts more naturally, and more than 90% reported that it was easier to communicate their needs compared to traditional methods.

Outcomes

The product reached ~120 users during its early development phase, generating valuable feedback that informed continuous iterations. These insights validated our approach, demonstrating how a game-based format can transform traditional career assessments into an interactive and impactful experience.

Design Process
  1. Game Structure: Created a flexible, interactive format that supported career exploration conversationally and collaboratively.

  2. Visual Design: Designed clear, visually appealing cards that guided decision-making without overwhelming participants.

  3. User Testing: Conducted multiple testing rounds with individuals and psychotherapists, refining both rules and visuals based on continuous feedback.

Ⅰ Design Your Love Ⅰ

Building on the success of our previous product, we created Design Your Love to help individuals gain clarity and navigate uncertainties in their romantic relationships. Finding fulfillment in love is not always easy—misalignments between what we want and how we act often lead to misunderstandings.

Design Your Love is a tabletop game that bridges this gap, guiding players to align their needs with their actions and fostering stronger, more meaningful connections.

Challenges

User interviews revealed a common pattern: many people assume their needs and desires are obvious to their partners. In reality, they often go unspoken, leading to misunderstandings, frustration, and unmet expectations.

Solution

We designed a series of games tailored to both couples and individuals. For couples, the games encourage open dialogue and mutual understanding. For individuals, the activities help clarify what kind of partner aligns with their values and why they may experience struggles in relationships.

Design Your Love features three types of cards, each created to encourage reflection and meaningful conversations.

Value Cards help users identify and prioritize what matters most in a relationship—such as life values, personality traits, and communication styles—so they can better align their actions with their needs.

Love Action Cards offer 30 practical guidelines that motivate players to adjust their behaviors to express and receive love more effectively, covering categories like affirmation, gift-giving, and physical touch.

Exploration Cards invite users to reflect on their own and their partner’s behaviors, expectations, and relationship goals through 24 thought-provoking questions, fostering deeper understanding and dialogue.

Brand Identity: Direction, Hope, Professionalism, Warmth, Inspiration

The brand identity is built around the concept of the Source of Flow State. The logo features shimmering stars that symbolize true desires, guiding the eye upward along smooth, flowing curves. The visual language represents a journey of self-discovery, helping individuals navigate life’s uncertainties, find inspiration, explore practical solutions, and allow the heart to flow freely once again.

At Life Design Counseling Center, the brand embodies a safe and supportive space where people can embrace their authentic selves and discover their own direction in life.

Takeaways

Over four years of collaboration, I learned that clear communication is the cornerstone of successful teamwork, especially in remote environments. As a product designer and co-founder, much of my role centered on understanding partners’ ideas, aligning goals, and integrating user feedback. I also discovered the importance of honoring commitments, being transparent about setbacks, asking for support when needed, and maintaining timelines that are both structured and adaptable. These practices taught me how to navigate challenges with resilience, openness, and trust.
